Thanksgiving Advice (November 23, 2010)

To our valued Customers,

First, let us wish you and your families a wonderful Thanksgiving. Personally it’s my favorite of the holidays.

For those of you that have AVG Anti-Virus software that we loaded on your machine in the process of a repair. When you can, please bring the unit back in. While you wait we will uninstall AVG and install Avast. The latest version AVG 2011 isn’t a very good free product. Now, if you have already upgraded to one of AVG’s paid products, that’s fine. Also, please make sure you only have one anti-virus software loaded in your machine. If two or more anti-virus software’s are running at the same time, it will slow the computer down drastically. Please do not load in other utility software, like Registry repair, Registry Clean and others, Windows does these functions on it’s own.

Please keep in mind we now repair all generations iPhones, iPads, iTouch iPods. We have always repaired Apple computers and laptops.

When doing your holiday shopping for pc laptops, always try and buy the Intel powered machines, not AMD. We see more failure in the newer AMD’s versus Intel processors. Also do not shop for a laptop buy hard drive size. Our saying is, the larger the hard drive, the sooner it will fail.

We do have available high end business class refurbished laptops for sale starting at $500 and desktops at $350. We are not impressed with any retail brand laptops priced at the lower end of the scale, say starting at $400. The refurbished units we sell will outlast the lower priced retail models.

Toshiba has changed the way they deal with us, an Authorized Repair Center. Only the Satellite Pro’s, Protégé, and Tecra series are repaired at our location while under warranty. Almost all the Satellite series must be handled by the end user and shipped back to Toshiba for repair. If you purchase an extended warranty direct from Toshiba with in the first 30 days of ownership, then we can work on the machine at our location from day one till the warranty expires. We always recommend a factory warranty versus the third party warranty sold by the big box stores.

We are not big fans of the netbooks that are priced around $300. To us, that’s a lot of money to spend on something to check email when most cell phones can accomplish that process. These units usually are just a disposable unit due to the cost of repair exceeding the value of the units.  Check the link below for pros and cons of netbooks.

Toshiba Feedback (september 20, 2010)

Dear Valued Customer,

If we have recently completed a Toshiba Warranty Repair for you or your company. Toshiba will be sending you an email with two simple questions and a place to add comments.

The first question is if you did, in fact, just have a repair done at an Authorized Repair Center. After answering “Yes” to that one, the next question is asking you to give a 1-10 rating, not on our services, but if you would be likely to purchase a Toshiba laptop again.

This system is not very fair to us here at Laptop Online because even if you thought our services warranted a 10, or highest rating, for whatever other reasons, maybe you aren’t thinking about staying with Toshiba in the future.

The reason for this email is to let you know that your rating does impact Laptop Online directly. We are the highest rated Toshiba Repair Center in the state of Florida and proud of it. Please ignore the question and give a number rating that correlates with the services we provided.

Thank you for your time and your business.

Toshiba extended warranty (July 10, 2010)

Good news for Toshiba Customers!

Toshiba as of the New Year will allow you to purchase extended warranties anytime within the first year of ownership. Here is a general overview of how this works.

0 – 9 Months

1 Year Extended Warranty $99   (2 years total)

2 Year Extended Warranty $149 (3 years total)

3 Year Extended Warranty $209 (4 years total)

10 – 12 Months

2 Year Extended Warranty $269 (3 years total)

3 Year Extended Warranty $399 (4 years total)

Call – 800-457-7777

We feel the advantage of Toshiba Ownership is in the ability to extend the warranty and deal with local service providers like us here at Laptop Online, Inc. All other brands of laptops are sent off to a central repair center and usually gone a week, sometimes more.

Always purchase extended warranties through the manufacture. Store warranties are third party companies that are typically very slow in returning your machine. They also have you paying for the first year which is covered by the manufacture. This tip applies to all brands, not just Toshiba.

Thank you,
